How To Use AI To Write Articles?

If you want to stay ahead of the curve, it is important to understand how AI can be used in content marketing. This is especially important since AI is starting to change the way we write.

Here are a few ways that you can use AI to write articles:

  • Use AI to research your topic: AI can help you gather data and information about your topic so that you can write a more comprehensive article.
  • Use AI to generate ideas: AI can help you generate ideas for your article by understanding what has been popular in the past and what is trending on social media.
  • Use AI to improve your writing: AI can help you improve your grammar, spelling, and style so that your article is more polished and professional.

By using AI to write articles, you will be able to create better content that engages your readers. Follow these tips and you will be on your way to creating a successful content marketing strategy.

Let AI come up with topic ideas

Light bulb

I sometimes have mind blanks when it comes to what to write about.

If you’re having trouble coming up with a topic for your next article, consider letting your AI tool generate ideas for you. There are a few different ways that you can do this.

Use a tool like SurferSEO or WriterZen to plan out a list of blog posts to write about.

The way it works is, you would enter in a seed keyword, and then let the tool get to work and generate different clusters, showing you the keywords to target as well as the keyword difficulty and volume.

Each cluster is a relevant blog post you can write about that people would actually want to read.

Do keyword research

Again, SurferSEO and WriterZen are two AI writing tools that can help a lot here.

WriterZen in particular shows you keyword ranking difficulty so that you can find keywords that have low competition and high traffic. It’s similar to Ahrefs or other popular keyword research tools.

However, the magic of AI comes into play when doing the actual writing. These tools actually tell you which keywords to include in your article and how many times you need to include them.

In addition, the tool also gives you guidance on how many words your blog post should be if you want to compete with the top ranking pages. It also tells you how many headings, paragraphs and images you should use as well.

When search engines see that you have the right combination of keywords in your article, you will be rewarded with a higher ranking.

I personally use SurferSEO and it has helped me rank a lot of blog posts on the first page, even though my domain authority is quite low.

Let AI suggest titles

Coming up with interesting titles for blog posts can be a headache and take unnecessarily long at times.

You can now speed up the time and let the AI suggest titles for you.

Jasper AI can be great for this. You can simply ask the Jasper bot, “> suggest me some titles for this blog post” and it will come up with some really good ones.

It’s actually smarter than you think.

If you want to target specific keywords in your title, you can simply ask “> suggest me some titles for this blog post containing the keywords ‘lose weight'”.

It’s then a matter of picking one you like, or asking it to generate more if you are not happy.

Get the AI tool to write the introduction and conclusion

This is a game changer.

You can now get the AI tool to write the introduction and conclusion for you.

I often use this feature when I am short on time or inspiration.

Let’s face it. Writing introductions and conclusions for blog posts is the most boring and repetitive parts of blogging.

To do this, simply ask your AI tool to “write an introduction” or “> write a conclusion”. It will then go ahead and generate a paragraph for you that you can use.

You can either use it as is, or edit it to make it sound more like your own voice. I prefer the latter as it’s better to make the blog post sound authentic like yourself.

Do some basic research and jot some bullet points down in the AI tool

Making a living with an online business

If you want to make sure that your blog post is well researched, a good idea is to jot some bullet points down in the AI tool.

This way, you can make sure that your article covers all the important points and doesn’t miss anything out.

Keep in mind that, at least at the time of writing, pretty much all AI writing assistants use GPT-3 as the engine.

This means that AI writing tools will only have knowledge of 10% of the internet up till 2019. Anything after 2019 will not be known to AI writing tools.

As such, you would have to carry out your own research if you plan on writing about anything after 2019.

List all the main points you find as part of your research as bullet points.

Unfortunately, you would have to do all the research stuff on your own. I’m not aware of any AI or bot that can do research for you. At least not at the time of writing.

Get the AI tool to fill out the content based on the bullet point summary

You can then use this to guide the AI writing tool to write content by referring to those bullet points.

This is a great way to handle content writing with AI content generators.

You don’t let the AI writer dictate the writing based on what it knows. It only knows things up till 2019 anyway. You do all the research and guide the AI writer to express what you know.

This is how you actually avoid getting in trouble with Google and its rules around AI generated content.

To do this, simply ask your AI writer (Jasper AI in my case) to “write a blog post based on the following bullet points”. It will then go ahead and generate a blog post for you that covers all those bullet points.

If you want to get really fancy, you can even get the AI tool to do a full article rewrite for you. Simply ask it to “rewrite this article” and it will go ahead and do a full article rewrite, keeping the main points but changing up the words and sentence structure.

This is a great way to create unique content that Google loves.

Proofread your article

AI writers are great at writing engaging blog posts. However, it doesn’t mean that those tools are great when it comes to grammar.

As such, you will still need to proofread your article before hitting publish.

I recommend using a tool like Grammarly to help you with this. Grammarly is a great AI-powered grammar checker that will help you fix any errors in your blog post.

To use it, simply install the Grammarly extension in your browser. Then, when you are editing your blog post in WordPress or wherever, Grammarly will automatically highlight any errors for you.

You can then fix those errors with a click of a button. It’s a great way to ensure that your blog post is error-free and sounds great.

Check for plagiarism

One of the great features of AI writing tools is that they usually do not contain plagiarized content. The content that it generates is usually unique as it comes up with sentences on its own.

However, it doesn’t mean that it’s always unique. There could be cases where it may reuse phrases from other sources.

As such, it’s important to check your articles for plagiarism as a last check. This helps prevent any issues further down the road.

You can use any well known plagiarism checker tool to help with this. I recommend using a tool like Copyscape.

Copyscape is a great plagiarism checker that will help you check your article for any plagiarized content. Simply enter your blog post URL into Copyscape and it will scan the internet for any duplicated content.

If there is any, it will highlight it for you. You can then fix it by rewriting those sentences or adding a citation.

This is a great way to ensure that your blog post is 100% unique and won’t get you in trouble with Google.

Parts that still need manual work

Here are some parts of writing articles that still need your input as there aren’t that many great AI tools to help with this.

Thankfully, due to this, we can be rest assured that AI writing tools will most certainly not replace human writers.

Adding your personal touch

You can’t rely on an AI writing tool to manage all of your content writing. It’s important that you also add your own touch and make sure that you produce fresh content that Google likes. Google is cracking down on blogs that use AI tools to generate blog posts.

AI writing tools should be used to speed up the process of writing blog posts as well as enhance your writing. It shouldn’t be used as a complete replacement for content creation.

Adding relevant images/videos

Images and videos help to break up a blog post and make it more engaging. As such, you will still need to manually add in relevant images or videos into your blog post.

There are also SEO benefits to adding images and videos into a blog post. So it’s something that you should definitely do.

Adding internal and external links

Internal links are links that point to other articles on your website. This helps to keep readers engaged on your site and reduces the bounce rate.

hyperlink, paper clip, links

External links are links that point to other websites. This helps to improve the authority of your site.

As such, you will need to manually add both internal and external links into a blog post.

Some AI writing tools (like Article Forge) have features that can automatically add external links when they write a whole article.

However, it’s better for human input when it comes to this. AI writers are just not that great at it unfortunately.

Configuring the metadata for your blog post

The metadata of a blog post is the title, meta description and focus keyword. This is what shows up in Google when someone searches for a particular term.

As such, it’s important to configure this properly as it can help improve your article’s click-through rate (CTR) from Google.

Configuring the metadata is something that you will need to do manually. Thankfully, it’s not that difficult to do.

Simply head over to the Yoast SEO plugin for WordPress and input your title, meta description, and focus keyword. Then, the plugin will help you configure everything properly.

This is a great way to ensure that your article has a chance of ranking high on Google.

The best AI tools on the market today

Here are some of the best AI tools you can find on the market today. I use a lot of these tools myself on a daily basis.

Jasper AI

Jasper AI is a complete AI content generator. It is especially great at writing long form content. The Boss Mode plan is just superior and makes Jasper AI the best AI writer on the market today.

You can command Jasper to write whatever you want. Titles, headings, subheadings, paragraphs, introductions, conclusions, etc. You can ask it to tell a joke. You can also make it rewrite sections. You can pretty much treat Jasper as your personal writing assistant.

It is a little costly but you should definitely consider it if you are serious about blogging and want to save a lot of time while producing high quality content.

SurferSEO

SurferSEO is mainly used to help you find topics you should write about. It has more of an SEO writing focus.

When you write blog posts, it tells you which keywords to include, how many times to include them, how many paragraphs, headings, images, etc to include and so on.

Jasper has SurferSEO integration built in. So, if you subscribe to both Jasper and SurferSEO, you can produce high quality content quickly and easily while giving yourself the best chance to rank.

Of course when you rank for a lot of keywords, that’s when the real traffic and sales start flooding in.

Jasper has a free trial that allows you to try out all features for 5 days.

WordHero

WordHero is pretty much the same like Jasper AI but doesn’t have nearly as much of a rich feature set.

WordHero is a fairly new player to the game but can also be used to generate long form content.

I don’t use WordHero too much, but from my experience of using it, it was quite nice.

I would recommend WordHero only if you find Jasper to be a little too expensive. Here is a review of how Wordhero compares with Jasper AI.

WriterZen

WriterZen is basically a combination of Ahrefs keyword research, Jasper AI and SurferSEO all rolled into one.

In my opinion, it’s more strongly focused on keyword research; however, it does have a neat AI writer built in as well. Bear in mind that you won’t get that many credits for the AI writer unless you’re willing to spend quite a bit.

It is an affordable tool, but it is quite new. The developers are still actively working on it to make it even better.

Article Forge

Article Forge is another AI writer but the main difference is that it can write full blog posts in one click.

There’s also a feature where it can write multiple full blog posts in one batch.

This can be great if you want heaps of content and would like to explode your Google traffic quickly.

I have tried the free trial of Article Forge and was impressed. I didn’t decide to go ahead and use it as my main AI writer since it feels risky posting those types of articles as it may violate Google’s rules around AI-generated content.

Jasper AI feels more legitimate and allows you to still go through the content creation process without really feeling like we’re shortcutting it.

Outsourcing to human writers

If you’re not comfortable with using AI writers or feel like you need a human touch, then you can outsource your content to a professional writer.

There are a few different places where you can find quality writers. I’ve personally used iWriter and Fiverr in the past. Another good place is Upwork but I haven’t tried that before.

The main advantage of outsourcing is that it frees up a lot of your time. You can then use that time to focus on other areas of your business or website.

The downside is that it can be quite costly, especially if you want a high-quality article. It’s also not as fast as using an AI writer.

I would only recommend outsourcing if you have the budget for it and are comfortable with the quality of content you’ll be getting.
