When it comes to writing blog posts, many people think that all you have to do is sit down and start typing.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the case.

If you want your blog posts to be interesting and engaging for readers, you need to put a little bit of thought into them.

In this blog post, we will discuss some tips and strategies for making your blog interesting to readers.

How should you make your blog interesting to readers?

One of the most important things to keep in mind when you’re writing a blog post is who your audience is.

What are they interested in?

What kind of information are they looking for?

If you can answer these questions, you’ll be well on your way to writing an interesting blog post that will engage your readers.

Another thing to consider is what you want to achieve with your blog post.

Are you trying to inform your readers about something? Entertain them? Educate them?

Once you know what your goal is, you can start brainstorming ideas for how to make your blog post interesting and achieve that goal.

If you’re struggling to come up with ideas for making your blog post interesting, try thinking outside the box.

Here are some of the tips that have helped me write interesting blog posts.

Being your authentic self

Write blog posts that are reflective of your own personality and style. This will make your blog posts more interesting to read, as well as help you connect with your readers on a personal level.

Your blog posts will be forgettable if you are not your authentic self and sound just like everyone else. If you showcase your true personality, your blog posts will be more memorable and engaging.

It’s what makes us unique and special.

Tell a story

Stories are a powerful way to connect with your readers on a more deeper level and make your blog post more interesting. When you tell a story, you can transport your readers to another time and place and help them understand your message on a deeper level.

If you’re not sure how to incorporate storytelling into your blog posts, try starting with a personal story. Share an experience that is relevant to the topic of your blog post and use it to illustrate your point.

Don’t be afraid to show some personality

One of the best ways to make your blog posts more interesting is to infuse them with some personality. Write like you talk, and don’t be afraid to let your voice shine through. This will make your blog posts more enjoyable for readers, and help them connect with you on a personal level.

Blog posts that are dry, boring, and lack personality are less likely to engage readers and keep their attention. So, if you want your blog posts to be interesting, make sure to add some personality!

Foreshadow

If you want to keep your readers engaged, try foreshadowing future blog posts in your current blog post. This will give them something to look forward to and make them want to come back for more.

For example, if you’re writing a blog post about the benefits of meditation, you could end the post by saying something like “In my next blog post, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite meditation techniques.” This will leave readers wanting more and eager to check out your next blog post!

This is something they usually do in sitcoms to hook you in for the next episode. They always end with a cliffhanger and that makes you want to watch more or binge watch all episodes in one go.

Do the same with your posts. End your posts with cliffhangers that makes sense with your niche. If you get readers to binge read your posts, the Google algorithm is going to love you lots.

Use first person language

When you use a first person voice in your blogs, it makes your blog content more relatable and interesting. It also helps you connect with your readers on a personal level.

For example, instead of saying “People who meditate are less likely to experience anxiety,” you could say “I’ve found that meditation has helped me reduce my anxiety.” This small change can make a big difference in how relatable and interesting your blog post is.

First person language also makes your blog posts more personal and engaging. Readers will feel like they’re having a conversation with you, which will make them more likely to stick around until the end.

Third person voice translates to boring content.

So, if you want to make your blog posts more interesting, try using first person language throughout the post.

Get to the point

Don’t drag on too long just for the sake of word count. Blog posts that are long-winded and ramble on are less likely to engage readers. If you can say something in 100 words, don’t try to stretch it out to 500.

Getting to the point doesn’t mean your blog posts have to be short, but they should be concise and focus on one main idea. This will make them more interesting and easier to read.

If you find yourself going off on tangents, try breaking your blog post into smaller paragraphs. Or decide if you should break into separate a blog post which you can interlink with later on.

This will help keep your blog post focused and on track.

Don’t be short

Yeah, you can’t also be too short as well. Blog posts that are too short are likely to be skimmed or ignored altogether. So, if you want your blog post to be interesting, make sure it’s long enough to actually say something!

A good rule of thumb is to aim for at least 500 words. This will give you enough space to get your point across without being too long-winded.

Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule. If you’re writing a blog post about a specific topic that doesn’t require a lot of explanation, you can probably get away with shorter blog posts.

But in general, longer blog posts are more likely to be interesting and engaging.

Write short sentences and paragraphs

Long paragraphs are daunting to readers. No one wants to see the dreaded wall of text. So, if you want your blog posts to be more interesting, make sure to break them up into shorter sentences and paragraphs.

This will make them easier to read and more likely to hold your reader’s attention. Plus, short sentences are more visually appealing and won’t overwhelm readers.

One way to keep viewers engaged is to write one line paragraphs. This is something that I have been doing lately and it has helped me engage my readers more.

Studies have shown that when people see short paragraphs, they are more likely to read them. That is why I am such a big fan of this type of writing.

Look through this blog post you are reading right now. Do you see any long essay-type paragraphs?

The fact that you have read up to here probably means I’ve done a good job of keeping you engaged till this point with my short sentences 🙂

I admit I sometimes do write long sentences though. It’s something I’m working on myself and I will perfect it over time.

Keep involving the reader

When you’re writing blog posts, it’s important to keep your readers engaged. One way to do this is by involving them in the content.

For example, you could ask them to imagine a situation or to think about their own experiences. This will help keep them interested and engaged.

Another way to involve your readers is by asking them questions. This will not only help keep them engaged, but it will also help you learn more about them.

Try using “you” and “imagine” throughout the content. This will help keep your readers engaged and interested in what you have to say.

Give examples

One of the best ways to make your blog posts more interesting is by giving examples. This will help readers understand and digest the information better.

Plus, examples are a great way to illustrate your points and keep readers engaged.

Real life examples are always the best, but you can also use hypothetical situations. Just make sure that your examples are relevant and relatable to your audience.

Next time you want to create interesting blog articles, try using examples to help explain your points.

Add lots of images

Images, videos and visual content in general can help break up text and make your blog posts more visually appealing. They can also help illustrate your points and make them easier to understand.

If you want to add images to your blog post, be sure to use high-quality images that are relevant and on-topic. It’s even better if you can use your own images in order to avoid copyright issues.

Include one or two animated GIFs in your blog post to keep readers engaged and entertained, only if it appropriate to do so.

Infographics also tend to work really well in blog posts. They help break up text and make complex information more digestible.

Tapping into current trends and events

Write about topics that are currently trending or relevant to what’s going on in the world. This will make your blog posts more interesting and timely, and it will also help you attract new readers who are interested in the same things as you.

For example, if there’s a big news event happening, you could write a blog post about how it relates to your industry or niche. Or, if there’s a new trend sweeping the nation, you could write a blog post about your thoughts on it.

This is a great way to get ideas for blog posts that are both interesting and timely!

Being controversial (in a respectful way)

Blog posts that are controversial can be interesting and engaging. But, it’s important to make sure that you’re respectful when you’re being controversial.

If you’re disrespectful or offensive, you’ll likely turn off your readers and lose their respect. So, if you decide to write a blog post that is controversial, make sure to do it in a way that is respectful and thought-provoking.

New bloggers should not earn as much as the more experienced bloggers. They have not yet proved their worth and should not be given the same platform as those who have worked hard to build a following.

See what I did there?

It sounds controversial, but it is true in a way (and I guess somewhat respectful?).

Avoiding fluff content

When you’re brainstorming ideas for your blog post, make sure that they are relevant and add value to the reader. Avoid adding filler content just for the sake of adding more words to your blog post. This will only make your entire article less interesting to read.

The importance of blogging for readers

Writing for search engines is important, but if you want people to read your blog post, you need to make it interesting for them.

Blogging can be a little tricky at times. You have to create great content that appeals to the reader’s interest and at the same time appeases the search engines, so that you drive even more organic traffic and build up loyal readers.

For me personally, I tend to use tools to help me with SEO stuff. I use Jasper AI to help me write articles quickly and SurferSEO to help me with spraying the right keywords in my article. It helps me produce content a lot quicker.

These are AI writing tools that help you produce content quickly. Check out my article on using AI tools for writing articles.

After that, I add my own touches. For example, my own stories and examples. I basically infuse my own personality into the articles I write.

Bear in mind, AI writing tools does not make your articles interesting. You have to guide it to write in a more interesting way.

There is controversy around using AI writers like Jasper for blogging but that is because a lot of people are using these AI tools the wrong way. As long as you use it with the intention of it just being your writing assistant, you will be fine.

Jasper is my writing assistant, but I’m ultimately the director of my blog!
