Content marketing is super powerful.

It has the power to explode your brand and turn you into a household name.

It has the power to create massive impact that turns people who barely even know you to raving fans.

It doesn’t matter what type of online business you run. Whether it’s selling online courses, affiliate marketing, running an eCommerce store or even a local store, content marketing through social media channels can really help to amplify your business.

It can make it that much easier for you to reach your desired goals.

In this post, I’m going to uncover a killer content marketing strategy through social media that any beginner can start implementing and experience some of the power it brings.

Content Marketing Strategy Through Social Media

What is content marketing?

Content marketing is simply a marketing strategy which involves creating and distributing various kinds of content such as articles, blogs, videos, images, etc.

It’s mainly used as a tool by online businesses to help build brand awareness.

To be more specific, it’s mostly an inbound marketing strategy. This just means that people come to you directly rather than you go looking for them (e.g Facebook ads or cold emailing).

5 Best Content Marketing Examples You Can Use

Here are some amazing content you can create and distribute:

  • Videos – this goes without saying that videos have the highest levels of engagement and conversion rate compared to any other type of content marketing. With the ability to see people on screen makes them more relatable and helps a lot when it comes to branding.
  • Images – Great for helping build brand awareness. The more people see your images, the more curiosity is built in the minds of your target audience, making them more likely to buy from you. This is why billboard ads can be so effective. You’ll have the same people seeing the ad everyday as they go to and from work.
  • Articles and blogs – One of the most obvious content marketing examples out there. When it comes to blogs, you can target almost anyone in any part of the marketing cycle. Whether they are looking for looking to learn more about you or whether they are ready to buy a specific solution to a problem they are having. They are still really effective today, but it is highly competitive.
  • Infographics – A fairly new content type. Infographics can be thought of as a mix between blog articles and images. They help to summarise a complex piece of work into something that’s easily digestible in a more visual format. People tend to learn better visually anyway. Maybe that explains the popularity of infographics. Infographics tend to be mostly used to build brand awareness.
  • Slideshows – This is not as popular as the other content types out there. This involves turning your content into slideshows that your audience can easily digest.

What is social media content creation?

Social media content creation is geared around creating content for social media. You can have articles, videos, images, etc all directly on social media. For example, you can have a Facebook post that is like a mini blog post. Or a video tutorial on YouTube. Or a slideshow on Slideshare.

The goal is to put out content directly where your target audience might be hanging out. For instance, posting a value-added Facebook post in a Facebook Group.

The great thing about social media content creation, is that you don’t need to worry about keywords or SEO or any of that stuff. You create content exactly the way you want it and post it right where your audience is, rather than hoping your ideal audience finds you.

When you combine a content marketing strategy through social media, you will experience huge benefits to your online business.

Benefits of content marketing via social media

There are many benefits to doing content marketing through social media. Let’s take a look at a few of them.

It builds brand awareness

When you use social media to do content marketing, you’re getting more people to know about you and your brand.

It helps if you can make your content stand out from the rest and let your unique personality stand out.

There’s a lot of noise out there, and if you’re in a niche that is way too popular and saturated, then you can’t afford to post the same kind of thing everyone else is posting.

For example, videos are a really great way to help you stand out from the rest. When people see you in a video and they keep seeing you again and again, that’s going to help a lot with brand awareness.

You become an authority

Once you’re able to build brand awareness by posting content regularly, you will get people knowing about you and you start to become a familiar face in town.

That’s not the only benefit of content marketing with social media though!

If you’re able to get people to know you, it then gets easy to build authority.

As more and more people keep seeing you and your content regularly, you will see people commenting, liking and sharing your content.

Although the example applies to Facebook, this is almost certainly true to almost any social media platform out there.

You’ll start to experience a snowball kind of effect. As you keep posting content, you’ll get even more people seeing your content and engaging with it.

If your content is amazing, then you should have a lot of engagement on that content and positive signals which would usually trigger the algorithms of social media to promote you to even more people.

It’s one of the secrets to growing your tribe online.

And when there’s a lot of engagement and promotion of your content, people will start to see you as an authority.

You’ll start to stand out compared to the millions of others who post content then and there and give up when nothing happens for them.

People will start reaching out to you for your expert advice regularly.

You create massive impact in the lives of others

If you focus your content marketing efforts on truly helpful and useful content that will help bring about a transformation in others, you’re going to create a massive impact in the lives of others.

When you share insider secrets or show how to do something that would usually be complex in a simple to follow method, you will greatly help out another person who comes across your content.

For instance, if someone is really struggling learning how to code in some new fancy programming language, and you create a video or a guide on how to get started easily, you’ve just created a massive impact on that person.

If that person is able to follow and is able to achieve that breakthrough of learning a new programming language, that person’s life can potentially be transformed. Who knows? Maybe they get a job working for Google or start a new million dollar software startup that revolutionizes the world in some way.

You don’t have to completely transform someone’s life.

You just have to guide them in little areas that they might be struggling with.

If you’re able to solve a problem for someone, you would potentially have a fan for life.

I hope all my content on this site truly helps you in some way!

You can earn more than any other method

That’s right. Even more than paid ads or solo ads or SEO.

If you have a rock solid group of people who know, like and trust you, you will earn enough to stop relying on your day job.

People buy from people they know and trust. For me personally, I would buy almost any product from one of my biggest mentors. Why? He helped instil a transformation in me, so I trust his products will only serve to help me.

Ever heard the saying about 1000 true fans?

It goes something like, you just need 1000 true fans to earn a good income for life.

For instance, if you sell a $100 course and you have 1000 true fans who will buy anything you offer, you will make $100K. Create a new course per year, or grow your fan base, and you have an income you can rely on for life.

No need to figure out hacks to get your Facebook ads targeting to work or generate backlinks to rank 1st on Google.

Content marketing is a long term strategy that just works.

Celebrities and online influencers use this strategy quite well and make money through products they endorse and affiliated with.

Celebrities already have a head start since they already have their brand awareness sorted out by being on TV and billboards. They also have a team of content marketers who take photographs and manage their Instagram accounts.

When you’re starting out, unfortunately, you’ll have to do most of the grunt work. The good thing though, is that once you get to a point where things start to snowball, you can then outsource and one day live the life of a celebrity (hopefully).

Does content marketing using social media really work?

As of 2021, yes it still works. And I believe it will continue to work for many years to come.

It doesn’t matter if Facebook dies tomorrow and another new player comes to town.

The principles still remain the same.

You just have to be consistent and post out quality content.

When starting out, you would need to do this every day if possible. If it’s video, then maybe every other day.

That is, if you want to grow on Facebook, then post content every single day. But if you want to grow on YouTube or TikTok, then post new content every other day.

Why?

When starting out, you need people to see you as much as possible. You’ll want to get them to know you and get familiar with you.

Turning up every day is one part of the equation.

The other part of the equation is to create engaging and helpful content. We’ll look into this next.

The point is, content marketing through social media works. And it works really well!

However, it won’t work overnight. It’s really slow and painful initially. It can look like you’re not making much progress.

But bear in mind, it can be like that for a few months to maybe a year or two.

If you’re lucky to post content that goes viral, then that timeframe can be shortened.

Your own content marketing strategy through social media

The hardest part of content marketing is finding content ideas to post.

Also to create the content itself.

Instead of burning yourself out or losing motivation by creating content one by one, we need a better strategy.

We need a solid content marketing strategy through social media.

So let’s take a look at how we would go about doing this if you’re just starting out.

First, let’s see how we can go about finding content ideas to post about.

This is too big of a topic to cover in this one blog post. However, at the most basic level, what you need to do is look for popular topics that get a lot of attention.

You can find popular topics by searching popular YouTube videos in your niche. Or going to a Facebook post in a group that has a lot of engagement (mainly comments and shares).

See if you can pick up about 30 – 50 popular pieces of content over the internet related to your niche.

Once you’ve done that, it’s time to look at creating content. All you need to then do is copy it!

No, not outright copy it. That would be plagiarism. I mean, take that viral piece of content, put your spin on it and make it uniquely yours.

If you can do that, you will with almost utmost certainty be able to get a lot of engagement and attention. You can then focus more of your effort on getting traffic to your content and let the content do its magic.

A common problem people have is how to stay active on social media and keep posting new content all the time.

If you have this kind of mindset, you’ll burn yourself out quickly.

Instead, you can look to keep cycling between your content.

This means taking those 30 – 50 pieces of content that you’ve made yours, making tweaks and changes to it, then reposting it.

This isn’t duplicating content.

Look at all the popular influencers on the internet. If you scroll through their content, it’s unlikely that they’re always coming up with new stuff.

You might have a popular YouTuber talking about how to make money investing in property in one video. Then in another video down the line, that YouTuber might put out another video about the best strategy to invest in property. Both are pretty much the same if you think about it.

Same goes with Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. The lifetime of content on platforms like Facebook and Instagram is much short-lived compared to YouTube, Pinterest and blogging on your own website.

It goes without saying that it’s more important to post even more regularly on short-lived social media platforms but you can get away with posting almost the same content over and over as long as they are spaced out over time and your older posts are buried way underneath into oblivion where no-one goes.

How to save time with content marketing

Content marketing is a huge time investment.

There’s so much you have to do like:

  • Finding content ideas
  • Creating content
  • Editing content
  • Publishing content
  • Promoting content
  • Doing it all over again the next day

Initially, you’ll have to do all of this on your own.

There are tools out there that can speed up some of the processes to make your life easier. I’m a YouTuber myself. A really amazing tool that helps me find new content ideas is TubeBuddy. Different platforms have different tools that can save you a ton. Just make sure the tool is actually good and has great reviews before you spend any money on it.

I still think it’s better to get your hands dirty and do it all manually when starting out. Tools can only take you so far.

When you start to profit from this, you can then look to outsource it to other professionals who are better at it then you are.

As long as you stay consistent and keep publishing new content regularly, you will eventually experience all the benefits that come with content marketing such as leads and sales.

The major difficulty when it comes to content marketing is finding content ideas and then creating the content.

If you are going to commit to a content marketing strategy through social media, make sure you stick to it daily even if it looks like you aren’t making any progress with your goals.

If you follow through with this and keep doing this for a few months, you will know whether the strategy works well with your niche or whether you need to pivot elsewhere.
